Discussion avec Fredrik Strömberg concernant Yves Chalands !

Hi!
Sorry that this took so ling, but I am on holiday right now.
I'm a member of a fan club of this famous Comic Artist Yves Chaland, during my surfing on the Web I've read (just find the information because i don't read sweden !!!) on the Komika site that you have write an introduction about the first Volume of the Integral Chaland. I Have some questions about the perception of the Work of Chaland in Sweden and in a most large approach about the French authors of the Ligne Claire. Would you agreed to answer some questions ? and are you agreed if I post this answer in our Forum (link under in the sign) ?
Sure!
>Is there others books of Chaland published in Sweden ?
No, that was the very first one, as far a I Know.
>Is this work have influence some Swedish comic authors ?
Not Chaland in particular, but the ligne claire has influenced many Swedish cartoonist, though there has never been a big market for original Swedish comics albums and therefore not many has made a career out of it. There are a lot more in our neighbouring country Denmark, though.
>Which one ?
Well almost none, now that I think about it. There has been cartoonists emulating Hergés work, but that has mostly been doe as a spoof.
>Do you know if the answer of the readers in Sweden are good with this book ?
I have only heard good reviews of the book, but I do not think that it has sold all that much. It is mostly published because the publisher himself is an avid fan of Chaland, I think.
>Are Tung Metal and Epix popular magazines in Sweden ? Have you an idea of the contribution of Chaland in this magazines ?
They were popular, but they are not published any more. And yes, there were a fair amount of Chaland in especially Epix at the time.
>What could say about the work of Chaland (have you a translation of you're article ?) ?
I like it a lot. I like his retro-style, and the fluidity of his lines. His version of Spirou is probably the most elegant of them all. And no, I do not have a translation of my article. Sorry!
>Is there others "ligne Claire" authors who are published and appreciate in Sweden ... FLOC'H Benoit Cornillon Clerc .... ?
There were a lot published in Epix at the time, and e few albums were also published in the 80s and the early 90s. One that springs to mind is Francois Thomas´ Stan Kajman. But no, this is not something that is or has been big in Sweden.
A last question, do you know how it's possible to order this integral of Chaland because I've send many mail to komika and I've received any answers .
Well, other than contacting the the publisher, I am not sure what you shoudl do. Try again, is probably my advice.
Cheers!

Yves Chalands Freddy Lombard : Le Freddy Lombard d'Yves Chaland.
non ?
